art means "skill" and has meant skill for 2500 years. these images are not art, they are works OF art, of skill. skill can be assessed, and works of art judged on the merits of the skills used to produce them.
In other traditions (more recent ones, I guess), however, you can read about female and even baby centaurs. Century by century, even legends evolve.
btw, thanks for your compliments!

The Drawing Hands
Looking for pictures of centaurs on DA because I'm bored, I was at first worried by the number of pictures flagged for "mature content." Then I realized that "mature content" really meant "visible breasts." I saw roughly 9 bajillion mens' bare chests, and the exact same anatomy on a female is apparently something from which we must protect the children.
Oh right, your drawing! Not much to be said that hasn't already, just want to throw my lot in with the rest of the compliments. The shading-style reminds me of anatomy studies done by some Renaissance painters, it has nice rounded, dimensional look with strong contrast. Looking through your gallery, you do this really well. I'd love to see what you could do with color (...maybe? I know that I can sort-of draw in pencil, but the moment I try to use colors my art resembles something made by a sixth grader.)
